Caroline Sharpe trained at Birmingham Conservatoire, completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance with distinction, and where she won the Mario Lanza Opera prize. She performs as a soloist with choral societies around the Midlands and her operatic roles include Musetta in Pucinni’s La Boheme, Nero in Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea and Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote. When not singing opera Caroline performs as the vocalist with Chris Hill Jazz, runs seven choirs and is the Borough Carillonneur for Loughborough.
Music has always been a great love of Andy Harris from an early age. “After playing principal trumpet in the Leicestershire Arts Symphony Orchestra, I continued my studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire under Andy Culshaw. In my final year I won the Alfred Corfield;Trumpet Prize. My musical career has been very varied, playing a range of pop and classical music, both in the United Kingdom and Europe. Last year, I completed a Master’s degree in Music Performance at Sheffield University gaining a Distinction”. Andy is Music Leader for brass with Sheffield Music Hub, and continues to perform in a range of events and functions.
Fergus Black was born in Scotland. After taking his degree at St. Andrews University, he studied music in the USA at the University of Pennsylvania and at UCLA, before returning to the UK. He is semi-retired, and chooses to play in concerts he enjoys with people he likes, and teaches only a few hours each week. He continues to conduct the St Martin’s Singers (www.smartsingers.org).
